Women’s Ice Hockey Names 2026-27 Captains

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team has named its captains, head coach Tara Watchorn announced Friday. Senior Neely Nicholson will serve as captain while fellow seniors Greta Henderson and Mari Pietersen will serve as assistants.
Nicholson wears the "C" this year after serving as an assistant captain in the 2025-26 season. She has made 96 appearances on the ice in her career at BU. She has 14 points off eight goals and six assists in three years. Of her goals, two have come shorthanded and one was the game-winner. She registered six points last season with four goals and two assists.
Henderson enters her second season with the Terriers and will serve as one of the assistant captains. She played in her 100th career game at the end of the 2025-26 season and owns 25 career points off 11 goals and 14 assists. Last season, she tied her career high of four goals and nine points. One of her goals last season came shorthanded as well.
Pietersen is BU's first goaltender to serve as an assistant captain since Callie Shanahan ('25). Pietersen has made 40 appearances between the posts, 19 of which came in 2025-26. She boasted a .925 save percentage in her junior season, a career high. Pietersen owns 17 career wins, four of which were shutouts and three of which came in Hockey East play.
